These mittens are essential garments to include in your nursery layette. The smaller "don't scratch" mittens are handy for keeping newborn's little nails and fingers out of their tender brand-new little faces, noses, and eyes. They don't have control over their hands and it is so difficult to trim those teeny little nails. The mitts are knit with very small needles so that there is less chance of any wee fingers poking through. The mittens for older babies and toddlers are made with more room for fingers to move around in and are heavier for the outside weather they might be in more.
